Job Description
This is a temporary position for up to 3 months.
As part of Technical Communications, technical writers are responsible
for writing service, training, customer manuals, and other documents
to support Nikon semiconductor equipment. Documents come from several
sources, including Advanced Engineering, Applications, Service,
Technology, Pre-Installation Engineering, Training, etc. Technical
writers work with the document owner (the author or person responsible
for getting the document published) to develop a grammatically-correct
and well-written English language document in a standard format,
to have it adequately reviewed (both internally and, if necessary,
in Japan), to finalize the document, and to have it approved for
release. Technical writers must be able to successfully manage
multiple projects simultaneously while producing consistently high-quality
documents on sometimes tight deadlines. Some travel may be required.
Job Qualifications
- BS/BA and/or 2-3 years of industry/equiv. experience
- Excellent oral and written communications skills (English)
- Basic to intermediate FrameMaker skills, including cross-references,
TOC, Index generation, graphics placement, and using styles;
intermediate MS Office and Adobe Acrobat skills, including PDF
file extraction; intermediate skills to generate PDF
- Must have strong customer focus and be able to interact successfully
with people at all levels in a highly multicultural workplace
- Enthusiastic self-starter with excellent organizational and
project management skills
- Shows commitment to tasks and is adaptable to rapidly changing
situations and timelines
- Works effectively in teams, many of those teams being cross-functional
- Understands the consequences of his/her actions and knows how
to get things done in corporate structure
- Familiarity with web-based training desirable

also creates original documents, collaborating in-depth with various
subject matter experts and document owners. Exercises judgment

receives general instructions on routine and new work. Some travel
may be required
Job Qualifications - BS/BA and/or 4-6 years experience technical writing
for the semiconductor industry or at least 6 years other technical
writing experience

Technical Communications Assistant – Part Time

Job Description:
As part of Technical Communications, would be responsible for supporting
Technical Communications group (NPIU, Training, and Technical Publications)
with clerical and other task support.
- Solely responsible for delivering manual orders to instructors
(and verifying delivery/receipt), scanning and photocopying as
needed, and archiving materials/files.
- Coordinates with NPIU staff to deliver materials to classrooms
(including off-site classes in the Bay Area), including printing
tent cards, stocking pens and tablets, flip charts, etc.; also
responsible for after-class tear down and clean-up. Must
know where the NPIU classroom supplies are and organize them
for delivery and setup.
- Training support includes:
- filing (customer and internal class folders after class
completion)
- reserving conference rooms for training
- entering data in learning management system (adding new
customer enrollments)
- verifying class attendance and attendance status
changes, printing and distributing certificates, posting
new classes in Athena (customers and internal)
- coordinating OEM training (e. g, requesting training
attendance reports from vendor, allocating and tracking
vendor credits, sending class enrollments to vendor, sending
vendor confirmation letters to students and following up
on test connections, sending vendor manuals to each student
(customers and internal), verifying manual delivery/receipt)
Qualifications:
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, enthusiastic
self-starter, excellent organizational skills.
- Must have strong customer focus and be able to interact successfully
with people at all levels in a highly multicultural workplace.
Acts with integrity - follows through on commitments. Shows commitment
to tasks and is adaptable to rapidly changing situations and
